BAOS Members receive:

BAOS Fees

The Membership year runs from January – December.

Direct Debits:

BAOS is asking all Members to pay by Direct Debit where possible.  We can only set up Direct Debits for Members with a UK bank account.

Please note that after your first year of Membership, Direct Debits will be collected on the 1st of January each year.  You will receive a reminder regarding your fees at the end of each year.

2024 Membership Fees:

Full and Associate Members – Direct Debit payment annually                – £185.00 *

Full and Associate Members – BACS or PayPal payment annually         – £215.00.

Retired and Trainee Members – Direct Debit payment annually           –   £95.00 *

Retired and Trainee Members BACS or PayPal payment annually    – £105.00.

* A discount is given to those paying by Direct Debit.

Dental Nurse – Direct Debit, BACS or PayPal payment annually£15.00.

(N.B. The first year for new Dental Nurses will be free).

Undergraduates – FREE

Pro- Rata Fees – 2024

If you are approved to become a Member between 1 January – 30 June 2024, you are required to pay the full amount of annual fees.  Payment to be made by Direct Debit, alternatively BACS or PayPal can be used. *

If you become a Member between 1 July – 31 December 2024, you will only be required to pay 50% of the annual fees PLUS an admin fee of £15.  Payment to be made solely by BACS on the proviso that the Direct Debit mandate is signed and set up for the following January.

  • Full and Associate member: £92.50 + £15 = £107.50 (providing a DD mandate is signed and set up for the following January)
  • Full and Associate member: £107.50 + £15 = £122.50 (if paying by PayPal and intend to continue with PayPal or BACS the following year)
  • Retired and Trainee member: £47.50 + £15 = £62.50 (providing a DD mandate is signed and set up for the following January)
  • Retired and Trainee member: £52.50 + £15 = £67.50 (if paying by PayPal and intend to continue with PayPal or BACS the following year)

* For those that do not have UK bank accounts, other arrangements will be made as per agreed discussion.

Please ensure that the following fields are completed along with your other details on your online Membership application form: “Current Role”, “Region” and “Specialist Register“.

Direct Debit Mandate – 2024

Please send your Direct Debit via email to mail@baos.org.uk rather than posting to us.

Please note that Membership applications may take a few weeks to process. If you wish to qualify for the BAOS Member discount on conference tickets, you must be an approved and paid BAOS Member. If you wish to apply for BAOS Membership in time for the conference, please ensure that your Membership application is received 8 weeks before the conference booking closing date. Please note that Membership applications received after this time are not guaranteed to be processed prior to the conference and therefore Member discounts will not apply to tickets purchased. We are unable to refund non-Members who book conference tickets and subsequently become Members.

Membership Types

Full and Associate Members  

Full Members must work within the British Isles and be registered with the GDC. You must be on the GDC Oral Surgery Specialist list. If you are not on the Oral Surgery specialist list then you must have 4 years or more working experience in an Oral Surgery setting.

Associate members have an interest in Oral Surgery but are not on the Oral Surgery Specialist list or do not have 4 years or more working experience in an Oral Surgery setting or work outside of the British Isles. Once you have been a Member of BAOS for four years, you will automatically become a full Member.

Trainee Members

Trainee Membership is for anyone in a Specialist Training Post, a Dental Core Trainee or Foundation Trainee role.

Undergraduate Members

Undergraduate Membership is available for Undergraduate Students

Dental Nurse Members

Dental Nurse Membership is for nurses working in a Dental Setting.

Honorary Membership

An Honorary member of BAOS will be entitled to free membership and have all the privileges of the Society. They should be someone who has dedicated their career to the furtherment of Oral Surgery and/or demonstrated significant support to BAOS.One Honorary Membership will be awarded each year and nominations must be received by the September Council meeting.
